S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase (SAHH) is an NAD+ dependent tetrameric enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of S-adenosylhomocysteine to adenosine and homocystein, participates in the methionine, transsulfurization and transmethylation metabolic pathways, regulates the intracellular levels of homocysteine ​​and adenosine, and thus affecting various aspects of biological metabolism. S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase regulates the gene expression and cell growth. S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase is related to virus infection, parasite growth like Leishmania, and hyperhomocysteinemia such as atherosclerotic vascular disease and thromboembolic disease[1].
